A deep dive into one of the most strategic card formats available at p666.
Pool Rummy is a points-based elimination variant of the classic 13-card rummy game. Unlike regular rummy where you simply aim to be the first to declare, Pool Rummy runs over multiple rounds — players accumulate penalty points each round, and anyone who crosses the agreed pool limit (typically 101 or 201 points) is eliminated from the table. The last player standing wins the entire prize pool.
At p666, Pool Rummy has become one of the most played card games among Pakistani users, and it's easy to see why. The format rewards consistent strategy over a series of hands, not just a lucky single round. You need to read your opponents, manage your points carefully, and know exactly when to drop early rather than risk accumulating a high-point hand.
Whether you're a seasoned rummy player from Lahore's bustling card rooms or someone picking up the game for the first time in Islamabad, p666's Pool Rummy tables offer the right entry point. Stakes start low in PKR so you can learn the format without risking large amounts, and the interface is designed to run smoothly even on mid-range Android phones with average mobile data connections.
The game uses two standard 52-card decks plus printed jokers. Cards are dealt 13 per player, and the objective remains the same as all rummy variants — form valid sets and sequences. A pure sequence (without a joker) is mandatory in every winning hand, which keeps the skill ceiling high and luck from dominating outcomes over the long run.
New to the format? Here's how a typical Pool Rummy session unfolds on p666.
Log into p666 and navigate to Pool Rummy. Choose a 101 or 201 pool table that matches your budget. Pay the entry fee (buy-in) which forms the prize pool.
Each player receives 13 cards. One card is turned face-up to start the open deck; a wild-card joker is randomly selected from the remaining deck.
On your turn, draw one card (from the closed or open deck) and discard one. Aim to form at least one pure sequence, one more sequence or set, and group remaining cards to minimise points.
When your hand is valid, discard the 14th card face-down to declare. You score zero. Opponents count their ungrouped card values as penalty points. An early drop costs 20 points; a middle drop costs 40.
Points accumulate across rounds. In 101 Pool, any player reaching 101 points is eliminated. In 201 Pool, the limit is 201. Eliminated players do not receive a refund of their buy-in.
The last player remaining wins the entire prize pool minus the platform commission. Winnings are credited directly to your p666 wallet in PKR.
Both variants are available on p666. Here's how they compare.

Small adjustments in thinking can significantly reduce your average score over time.
Without a pure sequence your declaration is invalid. Before focusing on anything else, secure at least one run of three or more consecutive cards in the same suit, with no joker substituting.
Aces, Kings, Queens and Jacks carry 10 points each. If they're not forming part of a sequence or set after a few turns, discard them to keep your point total low in case an opponent declares.
The open deck reveals what cards your opponents don't need. If you see them picking from the open pile, you can deduce which sequences they're building and avoid discarding cards that complete their hand.
An early drop in 101 Pool costs 20 points. If your starting hand has no clear path to a sequence and your total ungrouped value exceeds 50+, dropping early saves you from a far worse outcome. In 201 Pool you have more runway, so be less hasty.
Jokers can substitute for any card except in your mandatory pure sequence. Save jokers for completing impure sequences or sets with high-value cards — they dramatically cut your point exposure.
In 101 Pool especially, once an opponent is sitting at 80+ points, you can afford to play more aggressively and wait for a near-perfect hand before declaring, since they'll be eliminated soon anyway.
